Site Development Plan (FEP)

Based on strategic environmental planning, the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) published an area development plan (FEP) for the first time on June 28, 2019. First and foremost, this regulates which areas (especially in the German EEZ) are to be used to implement the expansion targets for offshore wind energy specified in the WindSeeG. The BSH is therefore responsible for the development and preliminary investigation of areas for the construction and operation of offshore wind farms. An adjustment of the expansion targets is always accompanied by an update of the FEP. According to WindSeeG (2017), the FEP also - together with the Network Development Plan (NEP) - forms the planning basis for connecting offshore wind farms to the onshore power transmission network.
