Statement on the preliminary area investigation by the BSH

AGOW and other associations comment on the draft of the BSH
July 7, 2017

As part of the tenders for offshore wind energy, the so-called central model will be used for offshore wind farms with commissioning from 2026. In other words, in 2021 the bidders will compete for the first time to build wind farms on land provided by the state. In order for the bidders to be able to calculate a reliable bid, information about various aspects of the location is important: e.g. the geological composition of the subsoil, the situation of the fish and birds and information about wind and wave conditions. The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) carries out the relevant investigations of the areas on behalf of the issuing authority, the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA). The BSH is currently discussing the specific scope of the investigations and the type of data that will be made available to the bidders with the offshore wind energy sector. AGOW contributed to this consultation process with a joint statement with the Offshore Wind Energy Foundation and the Offshore Wind Energy Forum, as well as a letter following the hearing of the BSH on June 28 in Hamburg.
