With the help of analyzes of wind conditions, the subsurface, oceanography and shipping traffic, the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) assesses the suitability of a marine area for the construction of wind turbines (Section 9 WindSeeG). Suitable areas and areas are shown in the regional planning plan (ROP) and area development plan (FEP). On this basis, the tender for areas that are to be used for generating offshore wind energy is then carried out.
