Decision on special tenders

Federal government misses opportunities in the energy transition
1 November 2018

The Federal Association of Wind Farm Operators Offshore eV (BWO) sees missed opportunities in the decision recently made by the federal government on special tenders for renewables. "Unfortunately, the federal government decided not to implement the additional contribution from offshore wind energy that was decided in the coalition agreement.", Says Uwe Knickrehm, managing director of the BWO, "that is a missed opportunity. The operators of offshore wind farms agree with the transmission system operators that a special contribution of 1,5 GW is easy to implement and makes economic sense. ”The BWO calls on the federal government to improve its resolutions in the area of offshore wind energy.

In addition, work must also be carried out on the further development of the German energy system. In the coalition agreement, the federal government stipulated that the proportion of renewables should be increased to 2030 percent by 65. This requires at least 20 GW as an offshore contribution by 2030. The necessary increase in the expansion cap for offshore wind energy must be decided in spring 2019.
