Revised area potential study by Fraunhofer IWES

The aim of the study is to identify remaining area potential for offshore wind generation in the German EEZ in the North Sea and Baltic Sea and potential for the co-use of areas with other types of use such as fishing or the military, taking into account nature and species protection to show Potentials, but also obstacles to the co-use of space are shown here. The study identifies potential areas of up to 82 GW in the North Sea and Baltic Sea through various co-use scenarios. In this context, the study also shows the effects of modernizing existing systems.
