Merely changing the wind energy at sea act is not enough

27 November 2020

“The change in the offshore wind energy law is an important milestone for the further expansion of offshore wind energy in Germany. But that alone is not enough. In order to achieve 40 GW by 2040 and to enable expansion beyond this, sufficient areas for new offshore wind farms must be defined and reserved in the spatial and area planning. In addition, the next legislature must urgently be used to clarify fundamental questions of the electricity market design and the refinancing of offshore wind projects. "
(Stefan Thimm, Managing Director of the Federal Association of Wind Farm Operators Offshore eV)

The Federal Council has the Amendment of the offshore wind energy law approved in today's plenary session.
