The bid deadline for this year’s tender under the WindSeeG for non-pre-assessed sites expired on 1 June. Shortly thereafter, the Federal Network Agency published its results, which proved decisive for the future of offshore wind energy in Germany. The BWO then carried out an initial analysis of the findings, followed by a more detailed discussion.

On 3 July at 10 a.m., Stefan Thimm, Managing Director of the BWO, joined Udo Schneider, Managing Director of Green Giraffe Advisory, to review the outcomes in depth. They examined the auction results, benchmarked them against the latest offshore wind tenders across Europe, evaluated the design of the German tendering system, and pinpointed key adjustments for future rounds.

This session offered insights into what the results mean for investment security, market competition, and the ongoing expansion of offshore wind energy in Germany.
