Thimm comments on the offshore agreement between BMWK, BSH, TSOs and coastal states
“The signed document is an important commitment by transmission system operators and the responsible authorities to provide the connections for the targeted offshore capacities in good time. Many important aspects of the grid expansion are being addressed and underpinned by specific measures,” says BWO Managing Director Stefan Thimm, welcoming the agreement signed today by the Federal Ministry of Economics (BMWK), transmission system operators, the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA), the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) and coastal states. “However, more is needed to achieve the offshore expansion targets. We are currently heading towards serious bottlenecks, especially with regard to sufficiently qualified specialists and the urgently needed production, port and shipping capacities in Europe. Here, solutions must be worked out with the entire industry as quickly as possible,” says Thimm.
