The BWO is growing

Parkwind - KNK Wind becomes a new BWO member
19. February 2019

The Belgian project developer and wind farm operator Parkwind NV - KNK Wind becomes a new BWO member. This means that all wind farms that have been operated, built or awarded a contract in the German North and Baltic Seas are represented in the BWO.

The general assembly of the BWO last week approved the membership application of Parkwind NV - KNK Wind and thus accepted Parkwind as a new member of the association. “We are pleased to welcome Parkwind NV - KNK Wind as a new member of the BWO. This means that we are again representing all existing and planned offshore wind farms in Germany in the BWO, ”says Uwe Knickrehm, Managing Director of the BWO.

Parkwind NV is a Belgian company that has been developing, building and operating offshore wind farms since 2009. It was only in April of last year that Parkwind NV acquired all of the shares in KNK Wind, one of the developers of the Arcadis Ost wind farm. Arcadis Ost had previously been awarded a contract in April 2018. Commissioning of the Arcadis Ost offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea is planned for 2022 with an output of 247 MW.

Parkwind already operates the offshore wind farms Belwind, Northwind and Nobelwind in the Belgian North Sea with a total output of 552 MW. A fourth Belgian offshore wind farm, Northwester 2 (224 MW), is scheduled to go into full operation in early 2020. Internationally, Parkwind already owns shares in the Irish wind farms Oriel and Clogherhead.
