Make way for the energy transition!

The BWO

Federal Association of Wind Farm Operators Offshore eV
4 December 2020

The Federal Association of Wind Farm Operators Offshore eV (BWO) bundles the experiences and skills of its members and derives political recommendations for action. According to the statutes, the association has the task of expanding wind energy at sea (offshore-Actively promote wind energy) in the Federal Republic of Germany or in other countries of the European Union. The association should also promote the industry-wide exchange on technical and legal issues with the aim of making a lasting contribution to the cost-effective and sustainable energy supply from offshore wind turbines.

For this purpose, the previous developments in offshore wind energy are to be evaluated and possible consequences of future framework conditions analyzed. For the success of the energy transition, the association advocates a permit and infrastructure framework that enables an economically cost-efficient expansion of offshore wind energy.

At the beginning of 2015, the predecessor organization became the Offshore Wind Energy Working Group (AGOW) founded by twelve operating companies. Until the end of 2014, these companies were organized under the umbrella of the Offshore Wind Energy Foundation in the Operators working group. In 2018, the Offshore Wind Energy Association was renamed the Federal Association of Wind Farm Operators Offshore eV (BWO).
