BWO managing director, Stefan Thimm, comments on the cabinet decision to change the WindSeeG

June 3, 2020

“Today's resolution to amend the WindSeeG is pursuing the right goal - but from our point of view, the way there is wrong. Of course, we welcome the fact that the announced expansion targets of 20 GW offshore wind energy by 2030 and 40 GW by 2040 are now being anchored, but the new tender design makes implementation unnecessarily difficult and demonstrably more expensive than necessary! "(Stefan Thimm, Managing Director of the Federal Association of Wind Farm Operators Offshore eV)

The one presented by Federal Minister of Economics Altmaier Draft to amend the offshore wind energy law was decided today in the Federal Cabinet and will now be referred to the Bundestag for parliamentary consideration.

You can find the BWO statement on the draft law as well as our press release from last Friday, May 29th here.
