Status of offshore wind energy in the first half of 2018

July 19, 2018

The expansion of offshore wind energy is currently going according to plan until 2020. At the end of the first half of 2018, a total of 1.169 plants with an output of 5.387 MW are feeding into the grid. Five projects with an output of 1.944 MW are under construction. From the point of view of the offshore industry, however, the federal government is currently doing too little to further advance the energy transition in Germany. In addition to an increase in the expansion cap, you therefore demand special tenders for offshore wind with a volume of at least 1,5 GW. The entire press release of the offshore associations and a factsheet from Deutsche Windguard on the status of offshore wind energy in Germany can be downloaded here.
