Hydrogen production must be flanked by the expansion of renewables
“Hydrogen should decarbonise large parts of our economy - and as quickly as possible. But for this to happen, the production of the new fuel must also be sustainable. The planned capacity of the electrolysers must therefore be flanked by a corresponding additional expansion of renewable energies. We do not share the BMWi's view that bilateral electricity contracts (PPAs) cannot be implemented in practice. On the contrary: PPAs would be a simple and tried and tested instrument to prove the green properties and system usefulness of green hydrogen. "(Stefan Thimm, Managing Director of the Federal Association of Wind Farm Operators Offshore eV)
Background: The BWO yesterday issued a statement to the BMWi on the result of the stakeholder dialogue “EEG regulation green hydrogen”. You can find the full document here.
