Press release: German Offshore Wind Energy Association invites you to the Future Offshore 2025 in Berlin

Berlin, May 13, 2025 – The German Offshore Wind Energy Association (BWO) is hosting the eighth Future offshore conference. The leading event for the offshore wind industry in German-speaking countries brings together decision-makers from politics, industry, and academia at the Oderberger Hotel in Berlin. Under the motto "Economy, Jobs & Energy – Tailwind for Germany," the focus will be on the industry's current economic and political challenges and the urgent need for reliable framework conditions in times of multiple crises.

"At the Future Offshore, the key players come together in one place to discuss the future of Germany's energy supply," says BWO Managing Director Stefan Thimm, adding, "For offshore wind to continue to be a key part of our energy supply, clear political decisions and long-term reliability are needed – as an investment anchor for industry and infrastructure."

Offshore 2025 Future Program: Energy, Safety and Environment

The panels at the Future Offshore 2025 conference will address, among other things, industrial policy frameworks at the European level and potential for cost reduction through smart grid and area planning. Discussions will include NZIA, a sustainable offshore circular economy, environmentally friendly expansion, and rescue infrastructure at sea.

Two parliamentary evenings will explore highly topical debates in depth:

  • “Plans of the Black-Red coalition – Is the wind changing?” A panel discussion with representatives of the new federal government on the future direction of energy policy.
  • “The sea is calm – how secure is our energy supply?” A security policy exchange with experts from the German Institute for Defence and Strategic Studies (GIDS) on hybrid threats and necessary protective measures.

Speakers include representatives from BP, Iberdrola, Omexom, Ørsted, RWE, Siemens Gamesa, TenneT, TotalEnergies, and Vattenfall, as well as members of the Bundestag from the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, the SPD, Alliance 90/The Greens, and the Left Party. The full program and all speakers are available at www.zukunft-offshore.de accessible.

2025 is also a special year for the industry: 15 years ago, Germany's first offshore wind farm, Alpha Ventus, went online. The anniversary will be commemorated with an exhibition and a ceremony at the conference.
