Press release: Federal Association of Offshore Wind Energy confirms Managing Director Stefan Thimm

Berlin, March 07.03.2025, XNUMX. The general assembly of the German Offshore Wind Energy Association (BWO) has appointed Stefan Thimm as the association's managing director for another five years. The association is thus focusing on continuity and strategic development in a crucial phase of the energy transition.

"Stefan Thimm has led the BWO office with great commitment and strategic vision in recent years. Under his leadership, the BWO has opened up along the value chain and further strengthened its role as the central voice of the offshore wind industry. With his confirmation as Managing Director, we are relying on continuity and expertise in order to consistently advance the challenges and opportunities of expanding offshore wind energy," explains Irina Lucke, Chairwoman of the Board of BWO eV.

"I would like to thank the member companies of the BWO for their trust and the confirmation of my role as managing director," said Stefan Thimm. "Offshore wind energy plays a central role in the energy transition and in ensuring a sustainable energy supply. I look forward to driving the development of the industry together with our members and other stakeholders and to actively shaping the political framework under a new federal government. Stefan Thimm has been Managing Director of the German Offshore Wind Energy Association since the beginning of 2020. Before joining BWO, he worked for the German Energy and Water Association (BDEW) from 2002, where he was promoted to Head of the Renewable Energies Department in 2009.
