With the expansion of renewable energies, concerns about rising electricity prices are growing. In the past few weeks, the price has climbed to as much as 70 euros per megawatt hour, which is twice as high as last year. In the course of the energy transition, green electricity in particular is becoming a coveted commodity. Many ask themselves: How do large energy companies refinance the high investment costs that, for example
arise from the expansion of offshore energy? How can industry and politics prevent prices for industry and consumers from exploding? And how do German electricity providers stay internationally competitive?
ZEIT STUDIO produced this podcast episode on behalf of BWO eV and Vattenfall.
