BWO: The draft NEP 2035 is a good start

BWO issues a statement to the transmission system operator
March 5, 2021

“The draft of the grid development plan 2035 reflects the increasing importance of offshore wind energy for the energy supply system. All scenarios are aimed at steady expansion - this is an important signal, especially for the ailing value chain.

The previously unused potential of the Baltic Sea will also be addressed. A short-term focus should be placed on the territorial sea, but in the long term additional pilot projects and innovative approaches for the co-use of the available sea areas are required.

In addition, a European framework is needed to connect offshore wind farms to the power grids of several European countries. The necessary legal framework and coherent concepts for the production and transport of green hydrogen from offshore wind energy are still missing. This need for political action is also rightly addressed in the network development plan. "
(Stefan Thimm, Managing Director of the Federal Association of Wind Farm Operators Offshore eV)
