In this episode, Prof. Dr. Karen Wiltshire, Deputy Director of the Alfred Wegner Institute for Polar and Marine Research and Irina Lucke, Managing Director of Omexom Renewable Energies Offshore, about the expansion of offshore wind energy in the North and Baltic Seas. Together they think about how we can reconcile the energy transition and the protection of our sea creatures and talk about what is actually floating around in offshore wind farms.

EEG surcharge will drop to 2022 cents per kilowatt hour in 3,723. "With contracts for differences for future offshore wind projects, we could even ensure that additional returns are made to the EEG account when electricity prices are high," says BWO managing director Stefan Thimm.

The result of the exploratory talks sounds promising: the role of offshore wind energy is explicitly recognized. It remains to be seen whether the announcement of a new electricity market design for renewable energies aims at the introduction of the long overdue CFDs.
